2009 Bonnaroo Artist Spotlight

Band of Horses

Among the best of a new breed of indie-folk rock bands, they formed in Seattle and later relocated to South Carolina. They were signed to Sub Pop Records, thanks to an opening gig for Iron & Wine. Vocalist Ben Bridwell's vocals have drawn comparisons to Jim James of My Morning Jacket, Perry Farrell of Jane's Addiction, early Neil Young and Wayne Coyne of the Flaming Lips. The band has gone through a number of lineups, and there are eleven people out there who can say they were a part of Band of Horses. Despite having only two albums, their second album, Cease to Begin, reached #35 on the Billboard 200, with the song "Is There A Ghost" reaching #34 on Billboard Modern Rock Tracks.
