Bonnaroo 2009 Artist: Kaki King

Katherine Elizabeth King, also known as Kaki, is a guitar player and singer/songwriter from Atlanta. At a young age, her father encouraged her interest in music.

During her high school years, she played in a band with Morgan Jahnig, who later became the acoustic bassist of Old Crow Medicine Show. While attending New York University, Kaki would play down in the cities subways.

She makes her sound using fret-tapping with slap bass techniques, using the guitar for percussional beats, as well as layering and looping. She cites Michael Hedges and Preston Reed as critical influences.
